A summary of 2014 with all the weddings and a fair few photos ...

Rhona & Richard 4th May

So we have started and what a start! Rhona and Richard, a lovely couple originally from South Africa and now living in London tied the knot in Almiral de la Font. This is a perfect setting for a wedding overlooking Sitges and beautifully organised by Val. For the first time ever the person doing the reading didn't arrive so I stepped in and all went well. We won't mention anything about Richard forgetting the pen for the certificate, that would be cruel. All said and done it was pretty much perfect.

This is something like where is Wally though if you look carefully you will find Richard and Rhona.

Emily & Joe 24th May

So Emily and Joe did exactly what they said they would, or at least Joe did. The tears started as Emily made her entrance! Although this time of year is always hit and miss with the weather it was beautiful. They married in Regencós, in the lovely Hotel del Teatre. Everything went well, in fact Emily said that she had even enjoyed the ceremony, something that she thought she would be too emotional or too stressed out to even imagine.

This is one of an ever increasing number of ceremonies I have held where the couple found me through this page, it looks like it works.

... and here they are, now dry eyed and getting ready to party.

Lyndsey & Lewe 4th June

Well this was a surprise last minute wedding, not for them but for me. Another officiant had to drop out at the last moment and in I stepped. Managed day before meeting in Barcelona, lots of chat, a few tears and all well. They married in Sol i Vida, a marvellous site overlooking the city up in the hills of Vallvidrera. A lovely couple, Lyndsey and Lewe, solid as a rock, even managed to smile as I read their vows in my German. A great day, and a very happy one. The place is wondreful and very much recommended, you will find links in Petra's page, she organised the whole thing to perfection.

Vicki & Wesley 29th June

Vicki and Wesley organised their own wedding. Though Wesley insisted during the ceremony itself that he really hadn't done very much at all! So, Vicki organised the wedding and did it beautifully. It was held in Masia Ribes run by Elizabet, I strongly advise a visit to their page, it really is a stunning site and very close to Barcelona. Thunderstorms were forecast but we made it through the ceremony in blistering sun with barely a hiccup. Weather forecasts are the same the world over I think. It was all pretty much perfect and the 120 people who stayed on and partied looked like they were having a great time when I left after a glass of wine and lots of hugs and kisses goodbye.

Sabina & Leonard 30th June

Leonard and Sabina married in Ullestret in the Mascaros, a beautiful site and they seemed very happy. The family and friends seemed to enjoy the ceremony, in fact one Australian father-to-be said he loved my sermon! I have never heard it described that way but what can you do? I am now doing sermons too! Sabina took a trip around the tiny village in a beautiful horse drawn carriage and all was great. Their photographer, Sebastia, was great too and gave me his card, here is his web if you are looking for one.

Susana & Kent 5th July

Another wonderful day and another beautiful wedding. Kent and Susana married in Mas Xipres, organised by the owner, Henny. As I left their supper was making its way to the barbecue, a very warm and homely feeling to the whole thing. The space is perfect and has been a regular of mine over the years. The couple had been together for the last 10 years, she was born here, and their two children in Holland. The ceremony was in a mixture of Dutch, English and Catalan.

Lisa & Will 11th July

Lisa and Will married in the beautiful Convent of Blanes, organised by Val. They are a great couple, USA meets UK somewhere between Singapore and Rio. Thoroughly enjoyed and I feel they did too. A fabulous couple who seemed over the moon.

Alexa & Jonathon 18th July

Once again back to the Convent de Blanes, see above. This was a wedding I was called by a friend to do just hours before it all happened. He was stuck in Madrid and the couple had never met him so I stepped in and was called Terry until after it was all over when I told them who I was rather than who they thought I was. All fine and they enjoyed their ceremony to the full blissfully unawair of what had been going on behind the scenes until it was all done and dusted.

Monica & Joe 22nd July

My first Italian wedding and what a wedding. Monica and Joe, Italian Canadians, had the family over and wanted a fair bit of the ceremony in Italian so, with the help of Google translator for the pronounciation and a phonetic text, we did it. The family was noisy and fun and participative and even corrected my pronunciation of "scatola" (box), it was great. Held in the Castell d'Empordá hotel on the Costa Brava I left as the party started and it looked like it was going to go on for a while.

Angela & Adrian (alias Stick) 27th July

Stick and Angela wanted to elope, they wanted to start their journey throughout Spain in a park in Barcelona (Laberint d'Horta) by getting married. It was a perfect Sunday morning, not too many people about, free entrance to the park and storms the day before leaving the city washed and sparkling. The three of us wandered the park until we found the perfect spot, water in the background and few people about. It was lovely, Angela cried from the outset but Adrian, though far from an ice man (he makes ice cream) kept his cool. It was very moving and a great way to start a journey ...

Sara-Jane & Peter 28th July

Sara-Jane and Peter found me online, we skyped and met and mailed and almost everything else and in the end all was perfect. The storm clouds gathered, the sky looked ominous but it stayed dry throughout the ceremony, as I drove home afterwards the skies did open but I think that they were under cover by then. I got the best man's name wrong, why I wanted to call Matt Will we will never know though I did it in the rehearsal too. He insisted that it was no problem and was going to be used in his speech and thanked me ...

Michael & Nisa 26th August

"I cannot Thank You enough for this evening. Is was quite emotional for us both.., you made it very special." This is what Michael wrote to me after their ceremony. A vow renewal on top of the Ohla Hotel in the centre of Barcelona. It was a surprise of Nisa to mark their 10th wedding anniversary and was great. Michael did the sound and Nisa provided the tears, a pretty good team effort all in all. Their children, they promise, will come to the next one another 10 years hence.

Emma & Ian 28th August

I think that this was everything that it promised to be. Organised by Val, the wedding was in the Almiral de la Font just above Sitges, the days was blistering and the wedding was at 3pm . ... BUT inside ... perfect! Emma and Ian have a daughter, Isla, who waltzed down the isle perfectly and set the stage for a perfect wedding. If I say that we finished with a rousing rendition of Neil Diamond's Sweet Caroline led by yours truly would you believe me? Maybe I shouldn't mention it.

BTW: I have coincided with the woman in the green flowery dress in Fleet events held throughout Europe for the last 8 years in my alter ego as an MC/actor, a surprise for both of us! No doubt we will be meeting again in Frankfurt in November 2014!

Mary & Brian 5th September

Mary and Brian got married in Masia Mas Coll, yet again organised by Val. It was a dark day, nothing to do with the humour, rather the weather, but when I left it was still fine, if a bit heavy. They were all having drinks and photos outside and all was great. This was a wedding made in Ireland, a Murphy married a Doyle. It was a wedding not only between them but also including all their friends and at the end they held a friendship candle ceremony which, in the celler where the ceremony was held, was beautiful. All great.

Jemma Lia & Robert 6th September

This lovely couple married in Bell Recó, about 30 minutes from Barcelona in the most wonderful surroundings. A fine day, well organised by Sonia from "Yes I do" and all went well ...

Katya & Seb 7th September

I first met Katya and Seb in Barcelona about 6 months ago, all excitment and happiness and a little red wine. They had almost grown up together except for him at boy's school and she at girl's, both in Ealing. Their romance however wasn't to blossom until they made it to Barcelona ... and what a romance and what a wedding ... a pleasure! Held at Can Ribes, they found me from this web and forgave me a "sugar her", but that is another story!

Emma & John 12th September

Emma and John married in Casa Felix in the Garraf, just outside Sitges, it had to be after the proposal in Parc Guell and it was very moving altogether. Another Irish wedding and a blistering day. John suffienciently nervious, Emma beautiful composed. Once again organised by Val, highly recommendable for that personal no nonsense touch who, along with Mireia, makes everything look so simple. A joy

Dusica & Carlos 13th September

My first ever wedding in the Vela (W) Hotel in Barcelona, right next to the beach, a fine day, a beautiful Serbian woman and very happy Catalan man. This sounds more like an advertisment than a wedding, but it wasn't. Lovely singing, the music by Mar was perfect as were her technicians, in fact it was she who contacted me to do the ceremony. The space perfect. I have posted a picture though you can't really see the happy couple too well but get the idea of where we were.

Tania & Rabs 20th September

A great wedding in a beautiful place, Begur on the Catalan coast in the Vintage Hotel. This was the first time that I have worked with Angela who runs Catalonia Wedding Boutique and she did everything perfectly from what I saw. Guitarists, DJ, food, the place, the timing ... impeccable. As for Tania and Rabs, we had met a while back in Barcelona and this was one of those special weddings, Australians based in the UK this was a truly international affair and all seemed to enjoy enormously.

Helena & Servais 4/10/14

What a wedding and what a day. Held in their home, Casa Nova, which you will see below. These are a couple who have been together for 15 years and decide now, and only now, to tie the knot and they did it perfectly. It was a joy, lots of laughter and fun, a beautful place full of very interesting friends. Servais was stoic about my slight mispronounciation of his name (Servers, or Ser-vers, or maybe slightly Servas) until we got to the vows. He didn't want me marryng Helena to someone who wasn't him!

I was even proposed, very decently, by a wedding planner, you will find her here, Phillipa Wyatt, and what's more she has a brother called Toby! The omens are good.

I would have loved to stayed, if only for a glass of cava, but duty called and I jumped in my car a headed off to Palamos ... see below.

Anastasia & Andrey 4/10/14

A Russian couple with a 3 month old (Vladimir) ring bearer, their son. A & A married in La Malcontenta, a beautful hotel near Palamos. Anastasia, in our meeting in Barcelona a few days ago, asked me to do two things: make it short and ensure that they didn't have to speak! In the end there was only an "I do" or two and a quick "da" thrown in for good measure. They and their friends seemed very happy with the whole thing, short and sweet.

Alyssa & Les 14/10/14

Does this photo say it all? Les and Alyssa wanted to marry overlooking the sea, on a cliff, with a view ... and they did, in the Botanical Gardens of Blanes. It was more or less just the three of us, well actually Val and Mireia, Edwin and his crew, Alyssa and Les ... and me. A joy, a pleasure and fun. Lots of tears
